Rawle & Henderson LLP is pleased to announce that Claudio J. DiPaolo and Michael G. Sabo have been elected partners in 2010.
Claudio J. DiPaolo, Chair of Rawle & Henderson’s Workers’ Compensation Section, has been engaged in defense litigation with a concentration in workers’ compensation matters for 15 years. He has successfully defended workers’ compensation claims on behalf of self-insured corporations. Additionally, he has handled employment matters, including counseling clients in the states of Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and New York regarding compliance with federal, state and local employment laws.
Claudio was formerly employed as an opinion writer for the Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry where he prepared decisions on adjudicated workers’ compensation cases. He has conducted workers’ compensation training seminars for risk management personnel on the implementation of injury prevention safety programs, workers’ compensation compliance issues, effective management of claims, and innovative return-to-work programs. He has authored articles on workers’ compensation issues in Pennsylvania and New York law journals.
Claudio earned his J.D. degree from the Widener University School of Law in 1993. He is admitted to practice in the states of Pennsylvania and New York as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

Michael G. Sabo, of Rawle & Henderson’s Philadelphia office, concentrates his practice in the areas of medical malpractice, health care law, general casualty and premises liability.
Michael was awarded a B.A., from LaSalle College. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree in 1989 from the Delaware Law School of Widener University.
He is admitted to practice in all the state courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the District of New Jersey. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
Prior to joining Rawle & Henderson, Michael was employed by two regional law firms. He has been engaged in the general practice of defense litigation for 20 years. He has successfully defended claims ranging from routine slip and fall accidents to catastrophic injury and wrongful death actions. He has practiced in the areas of admiralty, motor vehicle accidents, premises liability, worksite accidents and medical malpractice. He has defended his clients at arbitration and jury trials. He has successfully argued before all appellate courts in Pennsylvania. Most notably, in a case of first impression, he successfully argued to the Pennsylvania Supreme Court that a hospital cannot be held vicariously liable for a physician’s failure to obtain a patient’s informed consent. Valles v. Albert Einstein Medical Center, 805 A.2d 1232 ( Pa. 2002 ). He recently successfully defended two physicians and a medical center in a malpractice action alleging improper prenatal care leading to a shoulder dystocia and brachial plexus injury wherein the settlement demand was $ 7.5 Million.

Rawle & Henderson LLP is pleased to announce that Richard J. Sexton has been named Of Counsel in 2010.
Richard J. Sexton of Rawle & Henderson’s Philadelphia office concentrates his practice in the areas of commercial motor vehicles, premises and product liability, employment and insurance coverage law. He has substantial trial experience in New Jersey and Pennsylvania in complex personal injury and commercial litigation. He has also argued before the appellate courts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Richard has written and lectured on a wide variety of topics, including employment law and New Jersey civil procedure. He recently presented a seminar on New Jersey auto insurance PIP law. He authored a publication entitled “Employment Law in New Jersey,” which was published by the National Business Institute. In recognition of his experience, he was selected to serve as a New Jersey Superior Court arbitrator.
Richard graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science in 1981 and he earned his Juris Doctorate degree from Rutgers University School of Law in 1990. Richard has twenty-four years of combined service of active and reserve duty in the United States Navy, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Commander. During his active duty, he served aboard the aircraft carrier U.S.S. Enterprise for four years.
Richard is admitted to practice in the state courts of Pennsylvania and New Jersey as well as the U.S. District Courts for the District of New Jersey and the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, and the U.S. Supreme Court. He is a member of the New Jersey, Camden County and Burlington County Bar Associations.

ABA NEWSLETTER EDITOR
Valerie Kellner, an associate in Rawle & Henderson’s Philadelphia office, was the Editor for the Fall 2009 Issue of the Products, General Liability and Consumer Law Committee Newsletter for the ABA. As the editor of this edition, Valerie’s responsibilities included soliciting and obtaining articles, working with the writers, editing articles and submitting the final newsletter to the ABA for publication.
Valerie serves as the Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Products, General Liability and Consumer Law General Committee and the Newsletter Chairperson for ABA-TIPS Section Products, General Liability and Consumer Law Committee.

Carl D. Buchholz, III, a partner in Rawle & Henderson’s Philadelphia office, has been named the Vice-Chair of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, effective September 19, 2009. Along with his one year term as Vice-Chair, Carl has been reappointed for a second three-year term as a Board member.
Funded by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, the Disciplinary Board is an independent agency composed of 14 members from across the state. The Board’s responsibilities include assisting the Supreme Court in carrying out its exclusive jurisdiction over the licensing and discipline of attorneys as well as deciding cases, policies and administrative matters.

THE LEGAL PROCESS SEMINAR
Maureen E. Daley, a partner in Rawle & Henderson’s Philadelphia office, with Suzanne Curran Murphy, an associate in Rawle & Henderson’s Philadelphia office, presented a seminar on the process of claim handling through litigation to claims representatives in Harrisburg, PA.
