Bio

Michael P. Zabel is an associate in the Philadelphia office of Rawle & Henderson LLP. He concentrates his practice in the areas of catastrophic loss, casualty & premises liability, product liability and commercial motor vehicle defense. Mike has broad experience handling litigation, from pre-complaint investigation through trial preparation, in local, state and federal courts. As a former prosecutor for the Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, he also handled hundreds of criminal trials and preliminary hearings.

Mike graduated from Temple University Beasley School of Law, cum laude, where he was a staff editor for Temple Law Review and a member of Temple's National Trial Team. He received numerous awards at Temple, including Best Advocate at the National Institute for Trial Advocacy's Tournament of Champions Trial Competition in 2009, the Philadelphia Trial Lawyers Association's James J. Manderino Award for Trial Advocacy in 2010, and Best Paper in a number of subjects. During his time at Temple, he also served as a summer law clerk for the Honorable J. Curtis Joyner, U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. He holds a bachelor’s degree in classics from the College of the Holy Cross and a master's degree in classical studies from Indiana University. Prior to becoming a litigator, Mike taught Latin and ancient Greek at the middle school, high school and college levels.

He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.
