Brian G. Welsh is an associate in the firm’s Philadelphia office. Brian concentrates his practice on the defense of commercial motor vehicle companies and their insurers. In addition, he has experience litigating product and premises liability, maritime, medical malpractice, and construction liability cases. Brian served as an associate with another major Philadelphia defense firm from 2006 to 2011 and also serves as an arbitrator for the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas.
Brian has defended clients in matters involving soft-tissue injuries, catastrophic personal injuries and wrongful death claims arising from motor vehicle accidents, defective products, maritime, and premises liability causes of action. He has tried several major jury cases and more than 100 arbitrations. He has represented clients at settlement conferences, mediations and alternative dispute resolution proceedings. Brian has handled all aspects of discovery and trial preparation, including depositions of fact and expert witnesses, vetting and hiring experts and preparing exhibits for trial. In addition, he has extensive motion practice, including petitions to vacate default judgments, motions to compel discovery, summary judgment motions, motions in limine and post-trial motions. Brian also responds to the various Delaware River ports to protect our maritime clients’ interest in the event of an environmental accident, oil spill, cargo issue, or crew/longshore worker injury.
Brian earned his J.D. from the Villanova University School of Law in 2003 and his B.A. in Communications from Temple University in 1997. He is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania and the U.S. District Court for the District of New Jersey.
