Charles A. Fitzpatrick, III of Rawle and Henderson LLP recently obtained a defense verdict in a four day medical malpractice trial in the Philadelphia County Court of Common Pleas. Plaintiff claimed her mother died as a result of failure to appropriately respond to and treat complications following cardiac catheterization. Plaintiff’s pre-trial demand was in seven (7) figures. At trial, Charles was able to show the jury that the physicians and staff responded quickly to the emergency and did all they could to save the person’s life. The complication was a known risk of the procedure. The jury returned a unanimous defense verdict in less than thirty (30) minutes.
